Prize draw

The photo booth gives away prizes among the guests: after every finished session it decides whether the session wins and shows the prize right on the final screen. It is set up under admin area "Prize draw". Everything in this chapter belongs to the event; cancelled sessions do not take part.

Which method fits when#

MethodFits when …
Spread a quota over the perioda fixed number of prizes should last the whole evening, say 30 free drinks from 7 pm to 1 am. The prizes are spread evenly and cannot be predicted.
Winning chance per sessionthe number of guests is open and every session should have the same chance. With little traffic prizes are left over, with a lot of traffic they are gone sooner.
Every nth sessiona fixed rhythm is wanted. Guests can count along and queue up when the next prize is due.

Prizes#

Every prize has a quantity, a text for the winner and optionally a picture. The text should say how the prize is redeemed, for example "Show the code at the bar". With winning chance and every nth session the photo booth draws the prize by remaining stock: a prize with 30 pieces comes up more often than one with 2. With a quota all pieces of all prizes are spread over the period.

If a prize is renamed or its quantity changed during the party, pieces already awarded stay awarded; only the rest is spread anew.

Credit as a prize#

If the event runs pay-per-use with credit codes, a prize can also be credit - for example 5 × €10 and 20 × €2. The photo booth creates the code itself at the moment the prize is won; nothing has to be prepared in advance. The winner sees the credit code right on the final screen and can carry on straight away with "Another session". Like every free code, the codes appear in the pay-per-use code list and as free credit in the revenue overview.

What the guest sees#

When a session wins, the final screen first shows a full-screen overlay with confetti and sound. After that the prize stays as a notice on the final screen; where exactly is set in the final screen editor. The time until the return to the start screen only starts once the overlay is closed. A retake brings neither a second overlay nor a second chance.

The proof "Show winning code" fits when prizes are handed out at a bar or till: there the code can be searched in the winner list and ticked off as redeemed. "Notice only" is enough when the staff at the photo booth hands over the prize straight away.

Prize on paper#

If desired, the prize also comes out of the photo printer - as a separate prize voucher to show at the counter. "Prize on paper" offers three settings for this: do not print, right when the prize is won, or via the "Print prize" button in the overlay and in the notice on the final screen. With the button, each prize prints exactly once.

The voucher shows headline, prize, prize image, code, event and the day and time of the win. It is created in the format of the photo so that it fits the loaded paper; with photo strips it comes twice on the sheet, just like the photo. Without a printable photo (GIF, boomerang) it is 4 × 6. Pay-per-use does not charge for it, but it counts as a print. In the winner list, "Print voucher" reprints any prize as often as needed.

Instead of the built-in voucher, a custom one can be printed. "Design prize voucher" opens the layout editor with a new layout of the type "Prize voucher". There your own image is added as the background; headline, prize and winning code are already on it and can be dragged anywhere. It is then selected under "Voucher design". It is printed in its own format. Prize vouchers never appear in the guests' layout selection. If the selected layout is deleted, the built-in voucher is used again.

The second way is the image itself: in the layout editor, "Insert field" places the fields "Prize" and "Winning code" in a text. Without a prize the whole text is left out. Where the code appears depends on the visibility of the text: with "Printout only" it is only on the winner's paper. With "Photo and printout" it is also in the photo - and thus in the gallery, download and cloud, where anyone who sees the image can read it.

Winner list and notification#

The winner list shows all prizes won at the event with time, prize, code and preview picture. With privacy by default it keeps no pictures. It can be downloaded as CSV for settling up with the organiser.

Anyone not standing at the photo booth can get an email for every prize won - email sending must be set up on the photo booth for that. For lights, a bell or music the photo booth reports every prize as the event "Prize won in prize draw" to a program of your own, see Triggers for external programs.

Starting over#

"Reset prize draw" deletes the winner list, entries and winning moments of the event; all prizes are then fully available again. Useful after a test run before the party. A copied event starts without winners anyway.
