License and backup
Licence and backup belong together: moving the photo booth to another device needs both.
Licence management#
Shows licence type, remaining term, issue date and the time of the last synchronisation. This is where a key is activated and, before a device change, released again.
The licence has to sync with the licence server at least once every 180 days; with an internet connection this happens automatically. "Next sync due by" shows the date. From 30 days before, the start screen points this out at every program start; after that, no new sessions can be started until the next sync. This does not apply to the trial version.
Backup and restore#
A backup covers the whole device's setup — all events with their layouts, graphics and settings, plus the accounts and the counters. It is the fallback for a device change or a failure.
Captures stay out of it: session folders and gallery do not go into the file. A backup is therefore small and written within seconds. For the images there are "Export event captures", the event package and the session folder.
Restoring keeps existing captures, including those of events missing from the backup — their images then appear under "Captures of deleted events".
Backup and restore run in the background and show a progress bar; the admin area stays usable meanwhile.
To hand a single event to a customer or a second booth, the event package is the right way, see Managing events — it contains no credentials.
Second photo booth with the same setup#
If another photo booth should be set up exactly like the first one, the backup is the fastest way: it brings along all events, presets, libraries, device settings, accounts and the admin PIN. The event package is not enough for this, because it deliberately leaves out device settings and credentials.
- Bring both photo booths to the same software version.
- On the first booth, check that "Outbox / Send later" is empty. Otherwise open jobs are carried over and the second booth tries to deliver them without the matching captures.
- Create the backup with "Create backup without license information".
- Restore the backup on the second booth and restart the software once afterwards.
- Activate the second booth's own license under "License Management" if that has not happened yet.
Afterwards, check on the second booth:
- Devices — camera, printer, display, wireless buzzer, relay and LightControl still refer to the devices of the first booth. If "Select a specific camera" contains a serial number, the second booth only finds its camera once this is adjusted. The printer name must match the name in Windows exactly. A wireless buzzer is paired separately for the second booth, otherwise it tries to connect to the first booth's buzzer.
- Accounts — email, cloud, AI provider and payment run through the same credentials on both booths. To avoid that, enter separate ones on the second booth.
- Remote management — the second booth gets its own setup key during the restore. It is entered once in the management portal.
- Counters — the first booth's counter states are carried over. They are reset under "Counters & limits" and with the counter reset on the event card.
- Events — restoring replaces all events on the second booth. Captures that were already there remain available under "Captures of deleted events".
Not part of the backup are "Start with Windows" and the edge swipe gestures. They are set up again on the second booth, as is the printer driver.
