Photo mirror
A photo mirror is an upright screen, usually behind a mirror front, with a camera rotated by 90° above it. Guests see themselves life-size and operate everything directly on the screen. The same software runs a photo booth and a photo mirror; the difference is a single setting, the build type.
Choosing the build type#
The build type is chosen in the setup assistant on first launch (second step, see First start) and can be changed at any time under admin area "System Settings" > "Build type".
The build type belongs to the device, not to the event. An event created on a photo booth runs on the mirror without any changes and arranges itself there for the upright screen.
Aligning the camera#
When switching, a confirmation lists what changes on the camera: a rotation by 90° and a mirrored live view, for the photo camera and the boomerang camera alike. Without confirmation everything stays as it was. A camera that is already set upright keeps its direction.
"Check live view" in the same section shows whether the direction is right. If the image is upside down, the camera is mounted the other way round - "Rotate the other way" then switches both camera sections to the opposite direction. Rotation and mirroring are afterwards found in the "Camera" section as usual.
What changes for guests#
On a mirror, the bottom edge of the screen is at knee height. The interface therefore arranges itself differently - without extra switches in the individual sections:
- The buttons of every screen sit directly below the heading instead of at the bottom edge. This applies to notices, mode, layout and filter selection, capture, shot preview and the end screen.
- The live view and the finished image sit at the top, as close to the camera as possible. The closer the reflection is to the camera, the less guests look past it in the photo.
- The countdown is always at the top centre, right below the camera. The position from the event stays saved and applies again on a photo booth.
- Dialogs such as the gallery's large view, sharing or the number of prints are at the top.
- If the event sets "Position start/gallery buttons" to "Bottom", they are still at the top on the mirror.
A custom arrangement from the start screen editor or the end screen editor is not affected: whoever placed elements freely there decides their position.
