For guests

Buzzer: anyone can hit it

A buzzer is the most natural control for guests, especially for large groups, full-body shots or children. It starts the session, triggers the shot or confirms the end screen.

Buzzers at the photo booth

Wired or wireless

A wired buzzer acts like a key. Wireless buzzers connect via Bluetooth.

What it triggers

Start, shot or confirming the end screen, per buzzer.

Several buzzers

"Alternate per image" gives each buzzer one image in turn; the prompt names the one that is due.

No double shots

A debounce time makes sure that hitting it several times creates only one picture.

Build it yourself

Build a BLE buzzer yourself

With a small radio module, a party buzzer or any push button becomes a wireless trigger. One press fires the camera, and RAWCaptureBooth shows the battery level. No on/off switch is needed: the buzzer goes to sleep by itself when not in use.

  • At its heart is the Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840 radio module.
  • Option A: party buzzer with sound and light, a little soldering on the buzzer board.
  • Option B: palm, foot or arcade button, without any extra parts.
  • Both use the same firmware. The photo booth PC needs a Bluetooth adapter (Bluetooth Low Energy).

The build guide is currently available in German only.

Advantages over a buzzer with a mouse or keyboard board

No clicks in Windows

The buzzer talks directly to RAWCaptureBooth. It cannot click anything in another window or type into an input field.

Battery level in view

The booth shows the charge and warns in time, instead of the buzzer simply going silent mid-event.

Connection monitored

If the radio link drops, the booth reports it and names the likely cause.

Every buzzer unique

The device is recognised by its fixed Bluetooth address, so several buzzers are kept apart reliably.

No false triggers

Waking up, changing the battery or restarting never fires a photo by accident.
