Moving to the 64-bit edition
From version 3.3.0 RAWCaptureBooth is released as a 64-bit edition only. The 32-bit edition ended with version 3.2.0 and receives no new features. The reason: planned features rely on building blocks that exist for 64-bit only — the Sony SDK for Alpha cameras already was one of them.
On 64-bit Windows
Moving across takes a few minutes, and your data stays fully intact.
- Uninstall the current 32-bit edition through the Windows settings.
- Download the 64-bit edition from the download section and install it.
- Start the program — events, layouts and settings are all still there.
Events, layouts, captures, settings and the licence live outside the program folder. The 64-bit edition finds them in the same place; there is no data to migrate. The licence does not need to be activated again — it belongs to the machine, not to the edition.
The first step matters: Windows treats the two editions as separate programs. If the old one is not removed, both end up side by side on the system while sharing the same data folder.
On 32-bit Windows
Version 3.2.0 keeps running there unchanged. It receives no new features, but remains fully usable — capture, layout, print, gallery, sending and cloud all work as before.
To check whether a machine runs 64-bit Windows, open the Windows settings and look under “System” > “About” at “System type”. Nearly every machine sold in the past ten years is 64-bit capable.
Version 3.2.0 remains available as a 32-bit installer, with older releases in the archive.
What else changes
Nothing about how you work. The 64-bit edition carries the same feature set, plus support for modern Sony Alpha cameras through the official Sony SDK, which the 32-bit edition never had.
Questions about the move? A short message is enough — support follows right away.
